Learning Support and Extension Programmes

Being a smaller school, we pride ourselves in smaller class sizes where not much goes unnoticed. All of our teachers know all students really well and can easily adapt things to respond to the learning needs.

Teachers track all students progress and use the data to inform next learning steps as per Visible Learning. Regular "Puzzle of Practice" monitoring meetings are interactions between teachers and enhance collaborative problem solving to inform student’s learning. Teacher Inquiry is day to day work of the team and not a special once off project.

We are trialling a Sensory Room where some students can go for one-to-one tuition or as a calming place to gather their senses.

Priority learners are tracked on The Ngakuru Priority Learners Doc (NPL). Teachers and teacher aides work closely together to cater for their learning needs.

We have in class Teacher Aides who provide support to our students as well other agencies that are used to support children with special needs.

A full range of support services offered by the Ministry of Education to schools can be found here:

We have a number of students who are achieving at very high levels and these are tracked using The Ngakuru Extension Learners Doc. These children are challenged in other ways to make sure they are achieving their personal best.
